I can speak from personal experience that when you want to attempt suicide it becomes like tunnel vision, you have a plan, you try the plan, and sometimes it works, and other times you survive. When suicide seems like the best option and someone is encouraging you, it can only make the chances of survival slimmer and slimmer.

What Compelling Someone to Suicide Means Internaly
In "I Love You, Now Die" we see a young man, about the same age as us, going through many of the things that we do commit suicide under the direction of his girlfriend. When someone decides that they are going to attempt suicide, they are never in a good place mentally. Conrad Roy committed suicide with the help of someone that he loved, Michelle Carter. Conrad was possibly very depressed, and when he found Michelle, they most likely hit it off and as they started talking, Conrad began to tell her that he has been contemplating suicide. Instead of telling him that suicide is bad, Carter decided that it would release Conrad's pain and the suffering to be over. Carter may not have understood the severity of Roy's wishes to die and how he would go about doing it. Michelle urged him to suicide not necessarily because she is evil, but rather that she had some similar feelings and she also felt that it would generally improve his life, his families' life, and friends lives.

I can speak from personal experience that when you want to attempt suicide it becomes like tunnel vision, you have a plan, you try the plan, and sometimes it works, and other times you survive. When suicide seems like the best option and someone is encouraging you, it can only make the chances of survival slimmer and slimmer.

i never will attempt suicide b/c the depression and pain that i feel is funny to me. I always laugh at my self, and enjoy feeling pain.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point that Michele didn’t push Conrad to suicide because she was evil, but she genuinely thought that she understood him and that suicide would be best for him. Before they started talking, Michele had attempted to hang herself, and described being disgusted with herself for getting scared and not going through with it. She wanted to prevent Conrad from feeling like a failure too, so she encouraged him to do it. In fact, he told her there was nothing that would make him want to say. If he was going to kill himself, she was at least going to help him do it quickly by countering his doubts. Of course, Michele was mentally ill and had a skewed perception of reality. Suicide is never the answer. Both of them needed more help, and shouldn’t have engaged in an abusive relationship that brought out the worst in each other.
