Fake University Built to Target Foreign Students

     As seniors a lot of us are applying to colleges around the country. One University in Michigan is fake though. In an effort to deport illegal immigrants, ICE "founded" a fake university to catch immigrants who were hoping to extend their visas by being university students.

     This wasn't just a fake name with an application sent out. ICE took it much farther than that. According to USA TODAY, "[It] turns out ICE was so intent on attracting would-be students to its fake university that it persuaded a commission of academic professionals to give it a fake accreditation."

     On top of that, the fake university even started charging admitted students tuition costs even though they would soon find out their visas had been pulled and they could no longer reside in the US.



I think this entire operation is immoral, and goes against the concept of America being an open nation were people can come in order to receive a better education and start a better life.
