Trade War

The US and China have been in a trade war for over 15 months.

The trade war first officially started when the US saw that China was manipulating their currency to be cheaper than the US dollar which didn't sit well with us... at all. Trump immediately called out China for this and the hostility stemmed from that. This conflict mind you started somewhere in 2016.

Here is a small and compacted timeline of what happened between China and the United States.

Skipping to the month of April of 2017, both Trump and Xi Jinping agreed to meet and plan for 100-day planing for future trades and conflicts.

Onto the month of July of 2017 it seemed that both didn't agree with one another on the US decreasing the deficit with the Chinese.

January 17 2018 is when the US, mainly Trump, saw that the Chinese did something with IP theft.
Jan. 22, 2017 is when we raised the tariffs in response to what China did, mailnly solar panels and washing machines.

Beginning of March, 8, 2018. Trump ordered a 25% tariff on steel imports and then another 10% from aluminum, but not just China, from everyone.

China retaliates in April of 2018 with tariffs up to 25% on a total of 128 US sold products.

From this point on, the US and China continue to argue and disagree with one another about the problem and continue with the tariffs against one another along with bargaining and talking about a total cost.
