Seat belt safety

Seat belts are provided in every car, they are to prevent drivers and passengers from being ejected from their seat when a crash occurs. Wearing seat belts can save your life by a lot, in an article "Seat belts NHTSA" it shows that in 2019 there was a 90.7% rate of people using them and it has saved about 14,955 lives in 2017. Everyone should know the consequences of not wearing a seat belt when they enter their vehicle Seat belts are important to wear because you can never know when an accident will happen because if you don't wear one you'll get projected out of your seat and get serious injuries. Another reason why seat belts are important because it has the self restraint and will lock so you don't get ejected from your seat.

  1. I'm always curious how they get their statistics about how many lives were saved with seat belts. It seems hard to say for sure if someone really would have died without one. I guess if the car is pretty bad from the accident. It's also interesting to hear my parents talk about how when they grew up no one wore seat belts. Some cars didn't even have them, and people didn't use them even if they did. My mom always tells the story of how her family drove 2,000 miles from San Francisco to New Orleans, and her brothers and sister and her just laid in the back of the station wagon with a bunch of pillows and coloring books. No seat belts at all, for 4,000 miles round trip. (No phones more importantly.) Now it seems super dangerous like you could get killed if you forget to buckle your seat belt for a few blocks. But really nothing has changed as far as safety. It's just interesting how different the attitudes are now compared to then.
