Kaia Rolle

On February 25 a video was released to the media of young 6 year old girl that goes by the name of Kaia Rolle was forced into zip ties and put into the back of a police car at her local charter school. Back in September Kaia kicked and punched her teachers at her school, as a result, officer Turner and his partner, the school's resource officers thought it would be a good idea to arrest her. Even though Kaia was begging the officers to let her go and give her a second chance, the officers still walked her to the car, put her into the back of the car and drove her to the local juvenile detention center.

The administrators in the office were shocked by the way Turner handled the situation, they weren’t sure if he was unaware that was that she was only 6 years old so they informed him of her age and his response was very unexpected, he said “she broke a record” because that same day he arrested another 6 years old boy at a different school for a misdemeanor.

After Turner put 2 kids underage under arrest, he was fired. Chief Rolon stated that officers were not allowed to arrest anyone under the age of 12 years old. In Turner's 23 years of being an officer, he had made a total of 6,000 arrests, working at the school was a job he decided to do because he was retired but Kaia’s grandmother and administrators still said that wasn’t an excuse for his actions.

  1. If he had been a police officer for 23 years, you would think that he would know all of the rules by heart. The fact that he went against the rules and put himself at risk, to arrest two 6 year olds that were probably just acting out. It is so heartbreaking that there are police officers that don't have the best interest for the people in their community. She also probably didn't know what was happening and it doesn't seem like her parents were contacted. Obviously, anyone should know that a 6 year old is not able to make decisions for themselves and shouldn't be held accountable for their actions without some kind of trusting adult.

  2. While I can't believe he arrested two six year olds, I'm also curious as to why retirement meant he was working at the school as opposed to just not working.

  3. 6,000 arrests is a crazy amount. Clearly this officer arrests whenever someone is doing anything wrong. No 6 year old should ever be forced with zip ties into the back of a car. 6 years old they are in kindergarten or first grade. They are children, so do not treat them like an adult. His attitude towards the arrest is a clear sign that he does not feel any remorse or regret for what he did.

  4. To think that he put 6 year olds in a juvenile centers is crazy. I had never heard of any child going through that at such a young age. You would think that since he has been an officer for 23 he would know better. Also, he was told again and again that the Kaia Rolle was only 6 years old, but that didn't stop him from doing what he did.
