At the end of March, Gretchen Anthony's family received strange text messages from her stating that she was diagnosed with coronavirus and was being held at a local clinic by the CDC. Concerned, her family reached out to the clinic and asked about her, but there was no record of a patient with her name, leading her family to report the texts to the police. On March 26, police showed up at the house Gretchen and her husband, David Ethan Anthony shared and no one answered the door.
An investigation soon followed and neighbors began to tell the police that David had been acting strange recently and that they heard a blood curdling scream on March 21. When neighbors asked David about Gretchen, his answers didn't match the stories Gretchen's family was getting. A cadaver dog was brought to the house and it smelled a body. While they didn't find Gretchen's body, they found bleach stains and what seemed to be bloody towels in the garage and a seemingly blood stained broken frame in the bedroom. David has been arrested, but Gretchen's body still hasn't been found.

This is an interested post because there has also been an uptick in domestic violence around the world. I wonder if the fear of coronavirus causes some people to lash out against others with the coronavirus.
ReplyDeleteLike Kyle, I also heard the domestic violence has gone up in the US and around the world as we have been on shelter-in-place, but instead of being due to fears about the virus, I think it is being triggered by constant contact between the people leading to growing tensions and eventually violence. Since there isn't anywhere for the people be hurt to go, I believe more people are reporting it than they were before also causing the figures to jump.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised I didn't hear about this in the news. It's sad that the virus is being used as an excuse for violence. Gun sales have also gone up since the virus has become more and more present which is odd considering that a bullet will not stop a virus. I guess that it gives people comfort in thinking they are "prepared" for violence that could result.
