president and government reacting to COVID

When the out break first started our president, downplayed the Corona Virus as much as he could, saying that it was fake news, and that there was nothing that we should be scared about. That the media was doing everything possible to make this virus look terrible. But even though the media was right about the Virus being a big deal and should be taken more seriously, they are still sending out fake news. Saying that trump has stopped all funding for Corona virus cure which is not true, he has in fact raised it. Everything has been shut down, stores, businesses, sports, schools. Nobody has jobs anymore, work to make money to provide for their families, and now that release date has been moved back to May 3rd. Trump then signed a 2 trillion dollar relief package called CARES. $1,200 to any family making less to any family making less than $75,000, and $500 per child under the age of 17. The government has also decided to expand the unemployment benefits, now adding on 13 weeks to the maximum of whatever the state originally had it as. They are also providing a check every week for $600. but to have to be making less than $99,000 a year to be eligible for any of this compensation. Small business that are shut down can apply for loans to keep their stores and employees afloat. In 2-3 weeks is when the unemployment benefits should be starting to go out to families who need it.

  1. I agree with you Conner, Trump downplayed the Virus and the media over exaggerated it, but that doesn't change the fact that our country was gravely ill prepared for the Virus to hit us. After seeing how bad the Virus hit China and Italy, our medical infrastructure/supplies was still not changed even though hundreds of healthcare professionals consistently urged our government, on the national and local levels, to start preparing for the worst. And now he we are two months later with schools across the country cancelled, the entire nation on lock down, and doctors having to choose who lives and dies.
