On April 8th, Bernie Sanders decided to suspend his 2020 presidential campaign, leaving the primary democratic candidate to Joe Biden. Sanders reason being that he knows his campaign will not win and with the rise of the virus, it would be interfering with working on that. Biden is adapting his campaign to have similar policy to what Sanders was fighting for in order to appeal to younger voters. Although his name will still appear on primary ballots, he encourages voters to support Biden as a fight for the democratic party. Trump's response was a tweet saying, "Bernie Sanders is OUT! Thank you to Elizabeth Warren. If not for her, Bernie would have won almost every state on Super Tuesday! This ended just like the Democrats & the DNC wanted, same as the Crooked Hillary fiasco. The Bernie people should come to the Republican Party, TRADE!", hinting that if Warren had endorsed Bernie, he would’ve had a chance.
Despite Sanders dropping out and being far behind Biden after Super Tuesday, his movement has had an impact on many policies. For example, some cities have adopted the 15$ minimum wage that Sanders has been advocating for five years. It’s important to remain confident that there still is a fight against Trump and a fight for solid democratic policies even with his drop out.
