Michael Brown

Michael Brown was a high school student that had just graduated from Normandy High School everyone was very proud. Because I believe that 26% of the students that went there didn't graduate they would just drop out. Michael Brown and his friend were walking on the streets and a cop named Darren Wilson yelled at them and said "Get the f**** on the side walk" then Michael Brown and Johnson his friend said "Not but a minute away from our destination, and we would shortly be out of the street." Then officer Wilson forward but stopped and backed up, almost hitting them. Then the officer opened his door aggressively. Then Wilson grabbed Michael from the neck and said "ill shoot you" then Michael and Johnson began to run away. Michael was putting his hands up showing that he was not armed while Michael was running away the cop was shooting him and I think he ended up shooting Michael 7 times or more. When this incident happened the ambulance did not arrive and they had also left Michael body on the ground for at least 4 and a half hours. After this happened people began a peaceful protest by putting their hands up like Michael did and saying "hands up, don't shoot."

  1. I found the Michael Brown case frustrating because it showed how deeply corrupt and unjust our “justice” system can be. This case was wrong on so many levels, from how Brown’s body was left in the street so long, to how Officer Wilson was completely let off. Brown was shot 6 times with bullets coming from behind him, yet the U.S. Justice Department investigation found that only the witnesses who said Brown was coming at Wilson were credible and not the account of the other witnesses who supported Brown’s friend’s version of the events in was there to see himself. This case shows deep racial bias in the system. The elected prosecuting attorney (the one responsible for bringing charges, or not, against the cop Wilson) was not only white, his father had been a police officer killed by a black man years before. No surprise his grand jury found that Officer Wilson shot Brown in self defense. It also seems problematic the the Grand Jury had 3 African-Americans and 6 white people on it.
