Does Michelle Carter deserve to be released early?
After Michelle Carter was sentenced to only a two and a half year sentence for involuntary manslaughter the prosecution was angered. Which was then reduced to 15 months. As she approaches the end of her sentence, she has been given the an opportunity to be released 2 months early on good behavior. Inside of the jail she is said to be an active person in the jail. A spokeswoman for the detention center said, "She has been attending programs and classes inside the jail, and she has a job inside the jail". After facing a max sentence of 20 years for involuntary manslaughter and only being sentenced to 15 months of that, is it fair that her sentence is being even more reduced due to her not acting out in jail. It has also come out that Michelle Carter filed for parole. When it came back she was rejected. The parole board could not get around the fact that she persuaded her boyfriend to kill himself and prevented everyone from intervening. If the board believed that Carter was going to be an active member in society they would have granted her parole.
Conrad Roys mother gave a statement about Michelle Carters early release. She said that, "I don't think about her. It is what it is." It is hard to believe that someone who said earlier, "She is guilty of many things" is not frustrated or upset when her sons killer is being let out of jail. Conrads father has not yet given any statements on it.
I believe that only serving 13 months for involuntary manslaughter is already something that's wrong. When you add on top of it that this girl has obvious mental issues, she should have been in jail longer or in therapy.

I don't think Michelle Carter shoulda have been released early because she was messed up in the head and let himself get killed.
ReplyDeleteAfter the evidence that you have presented I too believe that she should not be released early. She also should've been given a longer sentencing time for the crime that she had committed because what she did was very wrong and disgusting in many peoples eyes as well as mine. and the Fact that was charged for and found guilty of involuntary manslaughter means even more that there should have been a longer sentence. I mean she was found guilty of helping kill someone that deserves a lot more time than 15 months and a chance of parole. So no I do not believe that she deserves to be released early. and Conrad's mother is defiantly lying when she says that she has not been thinking about her or her release date. she 100% has been, you can't just forget something like that.
