“It's not a few bad apples, it's the barrel”
There were inconsistencies throughout the whole process of this "Stranger Fruit" case such as where mike stood at points, the number of shots, the cop's statement, and many more. The police also made it seem that they were trying to cover up the injustice that happened on that day when they cherry-pick the video of Mike supposedly stealing but didn't show the whole video that later on showed the truth. He wasn't stealing; it was just a misunderstanding he had with the people who worked in the store. They did this to show that Wilson had reasonable intentions to arrest Mike Brown. During class, a statement that stood out was “It's not a few bad apples it's the barrel”. This is true when cops are not trained properly under a terrible system and are left with their own implicit biases. The American justice system failed Mike Brown when the grand jury did not convict police officer Darren Wilson for any crimes related to the death of 18-year-old Mike Brown. From my perspective, law enforcement which is a component of the American justice system failed Mike Brown when they let Wilson drive back, turn in his gun himself, didn’t take any pictures of his hands with Mike Brown's blood, and just handle the situation poorly.

I personally believe that the American justice system is just all-around bad at convicting its own officers, especially when it comes to young black men. Considering how the OJ documentary mentioned how the police originated from night watches and slave patrols, it's not surprising that institutional racism lingers in law enforcement to this day.
