3 1/2 Minutes and Ten Bullets

In the documentary, “3 ½ minutes and ten bullets”, between Davis and Dunn, the justice system was much more fair with this case when compared to other cases. They did charge him for the rest of the kids and got sentences. But the part where people felt let down was when he wasn’t charged for the murdering Davis. They couldn’t prove, without a reasonable doubt, he did indeed intend to murder Mike brown. It’s hard to prove a murder without reasonable doubt as seen in past cases. Although, it wasn’t the verdict people expected and desired. The most important question that has come up in past lessons is “Is feeling threatened or dangerous enough to justify killing, even if it’s self-defense?”. Dunn did testify he felt threatened because they looked like “thugs” and then later on implied that they had a gun that’s why he reacted for his self-interest. The thing is that they never found a gun and in the end the only reason why he felt threatened was because of how the boys looked which isn’t reasonable to shoot someone to death.  Getting a fair verdict in a murder case is difficult. Although he did get sentenced for the injuries the other kids got through the process; they didn’t determine if he was going to be charged for the murder of Davis. Many were heartbroken with the news that he wasn’t convicted for that. Another murder case, that we learned of was OJ Simpson, he at the end wasn’t charged. There wasn’t any justice, but in the Davis case they did get a little bit of justice. I’m not sure if the mother decided to have the second trail and so I’m not sure what the verdict was for that and I’m not sure if it did bring justice for his murder.

  1. I still get angry about this case. I believe that Dunn should've driven up and either parked somewhere else or wait in front of the store with his hazard lights on, just for the sake to avoid a situation and resulting in a death. There was a lot of BS in the trial as we watched.
