Bobby Shmurda Release

Bobby Shmurda could be released from prison next December

Ackquille Jean Pollard, professionally known as Bobby Shmurda, is an American Rapper. He is signed with Epic Records after a #6 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2014. On December 16h, 2014, Bobby was arrested by the New York City Police. He was charged with conspiracy to murder which was never proved, weapons possession, and reckless endangerment. In 2016, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years in prison. 

However, this sentenced has been reduced to five years after receiving credit for the two he already served awaiting trial. In a new article written by The Fader, said that Bobby Shmurda could be out of jail as early as December 11th 2020. According to the New York State Department of Corrections, his parole hearing will take place next August; Bobby could be out of jail as early as December 11th, 2020.

Late last year, the rapper's mother, Leslie Pollard said that she expected him to be released in November 2020. This means big news for the Hip Hop industry. Fans and followers of Shmurda are expecting his return to generate big money for Epic Records. With his return, any new music being released are going to be popular.

  1. Because the conspiracy to murder was never proved, it is very possible that Pollard is innocent. However, this is an example of how often plea deals are taken. People live in fear of suffering the worst consequence that they take something less severe in order to avoid the worst possible case. I wonder what would have happened if the New York 5 had taken a plea because that would have admitted their guilt and they probably wouldn’t have been rewarded at the end, but they would have all faced a lot less jail time.

  2. I like how the justice system did use his celerity status as an advantaged in the trial. He did plead guilty and he knew that he did the right thing and by knowing that he was going to spend quite some time in prison.
