Grant Fuhrman is a 16 year old student from Wisconsin. On December 3, Fuhrman entered the office of the school resource officer, Mike Wissink. Fuhrman was asking about the fine for shooting up cars with a BB gun. As Wissink was searching his computer for the information, Fuhrman got behind him and the officer felt a blow to his head. In extreme pain, Wissink felt at least 5 more blows, and when he turned around, he saw Fuhrman holding a 3 pronged fork. When Wissink was unable to reach his taser, he grabbed his gun and fired twice. One bullet hit Fuhrman and he hit himself with the other bullet in the left forearm. Fuhrman was only subdued after he was shot and as Wissink was kneeling on him, he heard the student say, "I'm dying."
What's most shocking about this case is that Fuhrman and Wissink had a good relationship before the incident as Fuhrman considered Wissink's office to be a safe place. Additionally, prosecutors are arguing that Fuhrman made a bet with a friend over text saying he "would not go into Wissink's office, stab him with a pencil, and steal his gun to shoot either the officer or himself." While Fuhrman told investigators he didn't want Wissink to die, stabbing him in the head multiple times with a grilling for tells another story. Currently, Fuhrman is charged with attempted murder and is being held on a $1 million cash bond.

This is a really interesting case. It makes me wonder how much peer pressure was a part of it due to the “bet” made with his friend, or if this was truly his idea. I am curious to what his criminal past looks like as well because this would be extremely alarming and out of the ordinary to do to someone they are close to without any prior history of violence or mental disorders.
