On December 1st, 2019 just after 2 a.m, there were reports to officers that there was a man with a gun in L.A on 7th and Crocker street. As the officers approached the area, they heard multiple shots being fired and then saw the suspect walking with a gun in his hand. The officers ordered the suspect to put the gun down, and he refused to and the officers saw that as a threat. Right when he refused the officers pulled out their guns and started shooting. The officers had first reported that both the suspect was wounded, but in the end they realized neither the suspect and officer were wounded. After that, the suspect was taken into custody without incident
I feel like in some ways this was right of the LAPD because when they ordered the suspect to put down his gun he refused to, so he was still armed. This would be seen as a threat because he had the gun in his hand and could have easily started shooting at the officers since he was already shooting. Also, it was a good thing that no one was injured and the suspect was able to be taken into custody without incident.

I definitley agree that when the suspect refused to put his gun down, he was still a threat, but I think it was a little extreme for the officers to start shooting. They should have definitely been cautious in the situation, but if something went wrong, there could have been a lot of backlash on the officers for shooting someone. At least no one got hurt though.
