Zebra Murders

The Zebra Murders were a small group of Black  Muslim serial killers in San Fransico. From October 1973 to April 1974 they've killed at least 15 people and wounded at least 8 others, all the victims were white. The police gave them the name "Zebra" after the special police radio band they assigned to the investigation. The city offered a $30,000 reward to catch them. The people that they caught at the time were, Manuel Moore, Lary Green, Jessie Lee Cooks, and J.C.X. Simpson. They all have been convicted of First-Degree Murder and Conspiracy to commit First-Degree Murder. A Special task force was formed to solve and stop the murders, led by Detectives Gus Coreris and John Fotinos. San Fransico Police Department Police Chief Donald Scott assigned the "z" police radio frequency for their exclusive use.

  1. It's interesting to hear about a case like this. Although it happened a long time ago, it's still surprising to hear it happened in a nearby city. Usually, when we hear about cases of racial violence white people are targeting people of color, but not the other way around. I wonder what motivated them to only target and terrorize white individuals, and I also wonder what were the different responses the public had to their crimes.
