Rwanda's Genocide

Invaded, crushed and attacked, Rwanda faced a horrific time in 1994 that took the lives of many people. Between the months of April and July there were as many as 800,000 Rwandans that have been murdered, most who were Tutsis killed by Hutus. This all happened in a matter of 100 days. Since these deaths kept increasing, refugees started to increase as well. An article titled, "Rwanda Genocide", it states that many fled to the DR Congo."By the time the Tutsi-led Rwandese Patriotic Front gained control of the country through military offensive in early July, hundreds of thousands of Rwandans were dead and 2 million refugees (mainly Hutus) fled Rwanda..."

In a matter of that tome period, thousands of women were taken from their homes and were used as sex slaves. Many were also killed because of sicknesses such as Cholera, which led to dehydration, which then led to their death.
Those who committed the slaughters were were charged but, it wasn't over. The eastern DR Congo received many consequences because of the genocide. Near the Rwanda's border, an estimate of  five million people have died.

  1. The Rwandan genocide was a culmination of rising tensions and preparations that allowed for the efficient massacre of 500,000 people, and 70% of the Tutsi population. Catholic missionaries and the Catholic Church created a lot of Hutu sympathy just after the second world war during the rising Hutu emancipation movement. The high population density in Rwanda is also believed to contribute to the intense conditions, with 408 inhabitants per square kilometer, the highest density in Africa. With increased tensions, population density, and the introduction of identification cards, the conditions allowed for the Interhamwe members to kill hundreds of thousands of people.
