Coronavirus has caused almost everyone to change their daily habits to stop the spread of this deadly disease. Not only does it pose a threat to our health, but at the same time, it threatens world trade and potentially our food supply. People are concerned about how trade could threaten people's health. With the closure of many airports and borders, the supply chain of food is threatened. Even with a world food shortage, we would have enough food to feed the world. The issue is how the food is distributed. The countries that will be most affected are those who rely on a large amount of food being imported. Many of these countries are on islands or in isolated places around the world where trading is the only way to get enough food. To combat this issue the UN has pressured countries to work together and make sure that all countries can get the resources they need. Another issue is within many of the farming communities. During the harvest season, there is a large number of people that immigrate to work on farms. This causes a lot of workers to be stuck in the same area which causes crowds. To stop this in Queensland, Australia they are attempting to minimize the number of people the workers need to be around. They are staggering lunchtimes and are using other measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus. Overall, the Coronavirus is putting stress on our trading ability, but if we come together and work out a trade solution we will be able to feed the world.
