Quarantine in Peru
The president of Peru, Martin Vizcarra, had declared a 15-day shelter in place essential and stated that if anyone was seen outside they would be arrested. Later on, he declared that the quarantine would be extended but that it would be acceptable to go to get essential needs. The only condition was that men and women would go out on designated days. Men would only be allowed to go out on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Women would only be allowed to go out on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This was the rule for the next 26 days.

This was an interesting post and I think restricting people on what days they can go out by gender is an interesting approach. It will be interesting to see how effective it is.
ReplyDeleteInitially, when the 15 day shelter in place was declared, people would suffer if they had a lack of food or were in need of essentials. Yes, this shelter in place would decrease the spread and help build the path to recovery from the coronavirus but it would also put many in danger if not having the proper care or were in need of something. If a family did not have food or severely injured they would not go outside due to the fact there is potential of being arrested?
ReplyDeleteThis makes sense to me. Limiting who is outside will limit social interaction. I think this would not have worked in our country because people would claim discrimination. I think a better solution would be to use last names.
