On Thursday, the White House announced that a plan to allow states to reopen schools and businesses and relax social distancing measures. This plan includes minimized non-essential travel and limited social gatherings. While this may excite many Americans who are ready to go back to a normal life, the possibility of another surge of cases is very likely. Additionally, testing is very minimized so there are probably thousands of people carrying the virus without knowing, which could speed up the second surge of cases. Many professionals believe that once testing speeds are appropriate, that is when they'll be able to see the most accurate downward trajectory. When this happens, it's more plausible for the current guidelines to be relaxed and for the country to start going back to normal.

The second surge of cases is very likely with a possible reopening of the state approaching soon. If we are capable of living our normal lives before this pandemic is under control, all this quarantining and social distancing will have been for nothing as we expose ourselves to further spread of this virus. This will only lead to another case of social distancing and one that will be much more severe and much longer with even more people infected.
ReplyDeleteI think that we need to be patient with this virus and wait until the experts say we can start opening up the economy again because when places have stopped their shelter in place too soon, they end up experiencing surges in cases and have to shut down and start all over again.
