Teen Attempts To Infect Others With COVID-19

Lorraine Maradiaga, was arrested earlier this week for intentionally trying to spread the Corona virus. She was charged with a terroristic threat which is a third degree felony and her bond set at $20,000.  Lorraine went onto Snapchat to post videos of where at the beginning of her Snapchat story, she posted a video where she was at a testing site and she was told she had tested positive. She then goes onto post that she was at Wal-Mart and that she will infect others. Since her arrest, she has stated that she isn't Corona Virus positive. However, police were not able to obtain proof that she had tested positive.

  1. Regardless if she tested positive or not, she should be punished in an extreme way. Although she may not be at risk of having serious health complications from corona, other people are and it isn't fair to put them in a situation were they become scared for their lives. The world will be a better place without people like her so an example should be set and the courts should give her a pretty severe sentence.

  2. During a pandemic, one would hope that it would be the time for the community to come together and support one another, like the people who go grocery shopping for those who can't leave their houses or the people who have begun fundraising campaigns. However, Lorraine took this pandemic and used it to create and spread fear. Even if she lied about her coronavirus test results, if she was even tested, she threatened many lives and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent she can be as her crime is similar to that of someone going on social media and threatening to kill people with other methods such as a shooting.

  3. To attempt to spread the disease is morally wrong, as she would be putting the lives of others in danger. Yes she may not be carrying any physical weapon, but in this case she is the weapon that could pose a threat such as death towards many. She could be the cause of many cases and should therefore be punished with such a punishment to demonstrate the seriousness of her actions.

  4. This is interesting and i dont think what she was doing was right. Even though she might have not been testing positive and this was a joke she could have gotten it by going outside.
