Brother and Sister Shot to Death
In Watertown, Connecticut, a teen brother and sister were shot by their mother's boyfriend. The boyfriend, Paul W. Ferguson (42 years old), was a convicted felon who was not legally allowed to own a gun in the first place. The daughter and the mom had a heated argument about Ferguson smoking excessively in the house. He then claimed that she was being too loud and when the brother began upstairs to confront him, he shot him in the leg. As the sister went onto the deck in fear, he followed her and shot her in the chest. Soon after, he went into the bathroom and shot himself.
I think cases like these are so sad because family are supposed to be the ones that you trust and feel most comfortable with. Obviously in this case, the children were forced to like a stranger because of their mother. These cases are also difficult because Ferguson deserves punishment, like jail time, however because he killed himself he almost "gets away" with his crime. I think it is unfair, however there is nothing that can be done because he is dead.
I always wonder why murderers decide to kill themselves after they have already killed other innocent people. I know in other cases, they feel bad or are mentally ill, however it doesn't state why in this article. I believe that because he was a convict previously, he probably had other problems that weren't stated. He also probably had anger issues and took them out in ways that weren't reasonable. Because of their deaths, the community will now be affected emotionally.

This is such an unfortunate situation. You bring up why murders kill themselves and I think hat's really interesting. Most people will never get to know because the perpetrators are dead in the end. For the most part, I think that killers end up killing themselves because they can't deal with the punishment. They'd rather be dead than face charges or be behind bars.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to understand that Ferguson would shoot the brother and sister because of an argument between them and the mom and nothing to do with him. I find it very disturbing whenever the murderers decide to kill themselves because they would much rather die than face the consequences of going to prison. I agree that by him killing himself, he kind of "gets away" with murder and there is no way to convict him of anything when he's dead.
