Religion within the Military

Image result for religious freedom in military
There are many serious and critical issues that the military must deal with everyday. But there are also issues that nobody notices but are crucial for the military to function. One of these issues is the religious beliefs and freedom that people in the military are rewarded. A recent organization called the American United has followed in the footsteps of people like Cassius Clay, or Muhammad Ali, to stand up to religious unjustness amongst the military. There are constant attempts to take away the religious freedom of our military. The most recent attack is on the Air Force as Section 533 is being threatened. This is that gives the Air Force members freedom to practice.  Many court cases have come from people believing their freedom of religion had been stripped from them in the military. Currently it is clear that people want freedom of religion to stay in the United States and in the military.

  1. There’s been a lot of recent conflict in terms of freedom of religion in the military. Usually, all navy lodges have Bibles provided by a charity that encourages the scripture, but recently the Bibles have been removed from 3,000 rooms. There was an enormous backlash from the Christian and conservative lobby groups, so the books were soon returned to the rooms. In addition, an athiest airman was denied re-enlistment because he would not say “so help me God”. Religion has no place in the government in any way or form.

  2. I think religion and military need to remain separate. If a soldier wants to serve their country, it shouldn't matter what religion they are. After all, one's first amendment right includes the practice of free religion, so there is no reason it should not be any different in the military.
