Potok was charged with mischief and is due in Ontario court in March. How will they be able to prove he was just messing around? He had traveled to China recently, so what if he genuinely thought he caught the deadly virus. This will be a very interesting trial, similar to a few that we watched first semester. The prosecution will have a tough time proving the case, but we will see what they will try to bring up to convince a jury that Potok was in-fact messing around.

I think this is really interesting because the coronavirus has been a serious issue that has been constantly talked about recently. Of course, millions of people are nervous that they are going to catch this disease, as diseases spreading is pretty common and hard to prevent. I want to know how they decided to take him to court on this issue and not just let him go. I think it is going to be a very interesting case because like you said it is hard to prove that he did it on purpose to make a joke or if he really thought he had the disease. I don't think that they will find enough evidence, so the case will end up being dismissed or he will walk away with no charge.
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily know how this is going to be turned into a case. Agreeing with Jennifer I don't think they will find enough evidence in the case to charge anyone with anything. What I wonder is, why would the man "joke" around about having the Corona virus. I am sure he would have rather landed where he wanted to rather than turning around just for a "joke".
